NATO: We have not received an invitation to take over the mission of northeastern Syria[/rtl]

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday that the alliance had not received an invitation to take over a mission in northeastern Syria.
Stoltenberg's statement came ahead of a two-day meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels.
The Secretary-General welcomed the reduction in violence to a large extent in northeastern Syria, in the light of recent developments.
Asked whether NATO would take over a mission to the safe area to be established in northeastern Syria, Stoltenberg said: "NATO has not received an invitation to perform a mission in northeastern Syria."
He explained that what is important is to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria, pointing out that the discussion of the possibility of NATO to take over the mission of northeastern Syria in the current situation may increase the instability in the region.
Stoltenberg stressed that NATO strongly supports the political stage led by the United Nations in Syria. is over
