The White House called on Monday for early elections in Iraq and an end to violence against protesters across the country.
The White House said in a statement: "The United States is deeply concerned about the continuing attacks against demonstrators, civilian activists and the media in Iraq, as well as restrictions on the Internet in Iraq ... Despite being targeted violently and denied access to the Internet, the Iraqi people have heard His voice calling for elections and electoral reforms. "
Since the beginning of October, there have been widespread protests to demand better living conditions, fight corruption, dismiss the government, dissolve parliament, and hold early elections.
A source in the Iraqi Human Rights Commission said on Sunday that the death toll since the start of the protests in Iraq in early October, amounted to more than 319 dead, including 13 security forces, and more than 15 thousand wounded.
