    The newspaper "Al-Sabah" quoted in a news briefed by "The Information", an official source in the ministry as saying that his ministry "is among the steps of the government program approved by the Prime Minister to support projects that affect the life of the citizen, especially with regard to the housing sector, issued a decision to the National Center For engineering consultancy affiliated to the ministry, it includes the formation of design teams that include all engineering specialties, from an architectural and construction specialist to roads and services, "noting that" these teams are concerned with following up the project for new city designs in the capital Baghdad and the provinces of Anbar, Wasit and Babel.
    He added that "the center has already begun following up the engineering and technical works to complete all designs according to international requirements and standards and the latest methods used in the field of project management follow-up."
    On a related level, the source stated that his ministry "has achieved advanced achievement ratios in the Shatt al-Arab housing complex project in Basra Governorate as part of its efforts to find solutions to the suffocating housing crisis in the country," noting that "the project is implemented by Al-Rashid Public Company and supervised by the housing department of the two To the ministry. ”
    He revealed that "the project will provide 640 housing units distributed among 64 residential buildings in two models, Type A includes 48 residential buildings with 384 apartments, while Type B includes 16 buildings with 256 apartments, in addition to the service buildings of the complex; it is an elementary school with a capacity of 18 classes. And two middle schools with a capacity of 12 classrooms, along with a modern market, health center and university, as well as a switchboard building and an administrative building.
    He noted that "the engineering and technical staff of the company implementing the project have achieved advanced completion rates in excess of 60 percent, expressing his hope that the complex will be opened during the current year 2020, according to the contractual terms of the project, to be added to the balance of the housing units being worked in Baghdad and the provinces of the country."
