Al-Masoudi said in a press statement: "The holding of provincial council elections is linked to three axes, as the House of Representatives ended the work of the current councils by amending its law to become, on the first of last December, expired councils."
He added: "The government decided two months ago to postpone the date of the [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/7983/%D9%85%D8%AC%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3 %D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%AD%D8%A7%D9%81%D8%B8%D8%A7%D8%AA]provincial council[/url] elections until further notice, in addition to the constitutional amendments that are being worked on with the participation of deputies from different political blocs."
He explained: "The Committee for Constitutional Amendments did not reach the file of the [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/7983/%D9%85%D8%AC%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3 %D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%AD%D8%A7%D9%81%D8%B8%D8%A7%D8%AA]provincial councils[/url] , although it continues to work on several files in each chapter of the constitution."
