[rtl]Baghdad / Nina / Legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi revealed the existence of international complaints filed with the International Criminal Court against Iraqi officials accused of killing protesters.
Tamimi said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / Nina / that: a point of serious transformation has emerged during the last period, a request to refer international parties involved the killing of demonstrators to international courts. "
He added:" Although Iraq is not bound to the Rome Convention 1998 of the International Criminal Court However, 25 complaints were submitted to this court against Iraqi officials who hold foreign nationalities.
”He explained that:“ The Security Council can refer this file to this court in accordance with its wide powers in the United Nations Charter, ”stating:“ These crimes are not subject to statute of limitations according to Article 28 of the law of this court. "
Al-Tamimi stressed that: The United Nations intervenes when the laws of states are unable to solve their worsening problems.
It is reported that more than 500 protesters were killed and thousands wounded as a result of the continuous confrontations between the demonstrators and the security forces and another armed in Baghdad and the central and southern governorates. / End 3[/rtl]
