Turkey started heading to some Gulf countries to export eggs to it after the Iraqi market was closed to imported eggs.

"The value of the monthly exports of eggs to the Gulf countries are currently about 4 million dollars," Rahmi Gula, head of the Egg Exporters Federation in the Turkish state of Balikesir , said, according to the Turkish Anatolia Agency .

He explained that "egg exporters send about 60 trucks a week to the Gulf states, amounting to a million dollars."

"Qula" confirmed the exporters' keenness to find more alternative markets to compensate for the vacuum caused by the closure of the Iraqi market.

He pointed out that "egg producers in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] went to boost their exports to the Gulf countries , such as [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman, after the Iraqi market closed to imported eggs."

Last June, the Iraqi government decided to ban the import of eggs from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] , while the Turkish Agricultural Chambers Federation said that [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] was importing (before the ban) 85 percent of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] egg exports .
