Al-Eidani said in a televised interview, followed by "The Information," that "I did not intend to run for elections and rejected many lists," noting that "Jawad Al-Bazouni offered me to run as a candidate in the lists of wisdom, but I refused."
He added, "The Secretary General of the Brigades of the Martyrs Sayed Abu Walaa Al-Wala'i asked me to run in the lists of conquest, and I refused, and Abadi called me and asked me to stand in victory and agreed."
He continued, "I agreed to Abadi's request in order to extract Basra from its crises," noting that "the victory list consisted of a heterogeneous mixture and disintegrated after the elections, and the fragmentation that affected victory after the elections is more like an onion farm."
Al-Eidani indicated that "the ministers spoke in a way that provoked me because they did not convey the suffering of Basra during the parliamentary session that I attended during the intensification of demonstrations in Basra, and Abadi imagined that I conspired to deny him the second term."
