, President of the Republic, Barham Salih, confirmed, on Monday, that a capable, stable, and sovereign Iraq is central to the peace of the entire region, indicating that our balanced relations support the easing of regional tensions.
Salih said, during his meeting with the Iranian foreign minister, today, that "there are deep-rooted relations that are based on social, religious, cultural and geographical ties, a common document shared by the Iraqi and Iranian peoples, and that benefits the two countries and the whole region."
The President of the Republic stressed "the importance of enhancing the horizons of bilateral cooperation and activating the agreements concluded in various fields," stressing that "the policy of openness adopted by Iraq to its regional and international environment aims to build balanced relations in support of efforts to reduce tensions and crises."
Saleh explained, "A capable, independent, and sovereign Iraq represents the common interest of the whole region, a fundamental factor in enhancing its stability and the basis for a system of work based on issues of common security, economy, environmental protection and mutual development opportunities that benefit the countries and peoples of all the region."
He added, "The countries of the region face many challenges, and joint work, coordination and commitment to dialogue should be made to overcome the differences and imbalances that surround them, and cooperate to end conflicts and conflicts and face the existing economic and health challenges, within the framework of mutual respect, common interests and state sovereignty."
