    Ministry spokesman Asim Jihad said in statements to the official agency, "The ministry has developed an investment plan worth three billion dollars to raise the production capacity of the Basra Gas Company to 1,400 million standard cubic feet per day," indicating that "the current production reaches about 900 to one thousand million cubic meters."     Jihad stated that “the ministry will sign within the coming period with (Baker News General Electric) a contract to develop or invest all the gas in Dhi Qar Governorate,” explaining that “an agreement has been made with Chinese companies to invest all the gas in Maysan Governorate.”
     
    He stressed that "the ministry recently laid the foundation stone for a very large project, which is to invest 400 million standard cubic feet per day from the Artawi field."
     
    Jihad noted that "the company aims to achieve an increase from 300 to 600 million standard cubic feet, and thus Iraq will achieve almost a high percentage of the gas associated with oil operations that will generate large quantities and will also be reflected in the Iraqi national production."
     
     
    Iraq currently invests from the gas accompanying the oil extraction operations about 1500 muqmqm, while about 1200 muqmq are burned, which is the number that Iraq seeks to invest and stop burning, bringing the total of what Iraq invests in more than 2,700.
    While Iraq burns 1,200 muqmqs, it imports 50 million cubic meters from Iran per day, which is approximately 1,700 mqmq, which means that if Iraq invests all of its gas, it will still need only 500 mqmqm, and may be able to compensate it also during the coming years in the event of raising its entire investment to 3 Thousands of subscribers daily, saving $ 3.5 billion annually.
     
     
     
    Oil is "serious" to invest
    For his part, the head of the Oil and Energy Committee, Haybat Al-Halbousi, confirmed that Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar is keen to go ahead with ending gas burning and making use of it in operating the electrical stations.
     
    Al-Halbousi said that "there are gas fields discovered as crutches and Mansouriya, and their investment has begun in partnership between the Chinese companies and the Central Oil Company for the purpose of stopping gas burning and gas investment," indicating that "there is a settlement between the Ministry of Oil and the Korean company for the purpose of moving the issue of investment to sober companies in order to stop the burning." .
     
    "It is shameful for Iraq to import gas from Iran or elsewhere, and it has quantities that can be obtained that exceed what is in these countries," he added.
