The Ministry of Planning revealed that the average Iraqi income per capita has decreased to approximately 5 million dinars during the year 2020.
"The average per capita share of the GDP at current prices, according to the report of the Central Bureau of Statistics, decreased to 4.950 million dinars during the year 2020, compared to 7.102 million dinars during the year 2019, a decrease of 30.3%," ministry spokesman Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi said in press statements.
He added that "the average per capita GDP at current prices in the dollar currency amounted to 4.2 thousand dollars annually, compared to 6 thousand dollars for the year 2019."
Al-Hindawi indicated that the average per capita income is calculated by dividing the gross national product by the population of the country, indicating that the average per capita income does not necessarily mean that all members of society receive the same income.
