    The National Oil Company, the oil giant in Iraq, announced, yesterday, Tuesday, that it will become the 100% operator of the transitional phase of the Artawi field within the integrated gas project agreement with the French company “Total”, revealing that the Council of Ministers approved the assignment of contracts for oil stations in several major fields in Basra Governorate. to international companies for development. The Director General of “Basra Oil Company” Khaled Hamza Al-Shara said: “The company operating the (Artawi) field has embarked on developing projects for the transitional phase within the national oil agreement and the financing partner (Total Energy) of France,” noting that “the development projects include the production of about 40 thousand barrels. daily of the available energy, which is estimated at 85,000 barrels per day, a record surplus, as well as maintenance work and the completion of pipelines transporting crude from the field to storage depots.” He explained that "deep talks are continuing between the two partners (the Iraqi and the French) to estimate and study the volume of marketing work and develop the fields, as well as the technical and operational procedures for the four projects in their final stages, and will end before the date of activating the agreement scheduled for January 13 for the next year 2022." In a related matter, the National Oil Company announced the approval of the Council of Ministers to refer two development contracts to build oil and gas stations in the (West Qurna 1) fields, north of Basra, and (Al-Fayhaa) north-east of Basra.
