Today, Sunday, the Administrative Undersecretary of the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, Dr. Karim Al-Nouri, received the Senior Director of the Livelihood Program ( edf ) of the International Organization for Migration ( IOM ), Mrs. Claire Duster, at the ministry's headquarters in the center of the capital, Baghdad.
The two sides discussed the livelihood program, which includes a number of steps, including cash for work for returnees, in addition to individual livelihood assistance. The program also included the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund, as well as the rehabilitation of infrastructure for the liberated areas, including agricultural and commercial ones.
The Undersecretary stated, "The International Organization for Migration ( IOM ) has a great and effective role to help the ministry's care groups, and we hope to develop this interaction with partner organizations to close the displacement file and close all camps, and that the ministry, in turn, provides all facilities to the organization in supporting the displaced."
Al-Nouri added that "the steps of this program contribute to the success of the ministry's plan to return the displaced on a voluntary basis, to provide the program the priorities and needs of the displaced that enable them to return."
For her part, Mrs. Claire Daster praised the effective role of the ministry and its cooperation with partner organizations to facilitate their work to support the displaced and returnees, noting that the program started since 2018 in the liberated areas with funding by the German Development Bank, indicating that the main objective of the program is to create job opportunities for returnees or expand Projects for the displaced and returnees, including the reconstruction of the liberated areas.
