Iraq is approaching the peak of the fourth stage in Corona injuries
Baghdad/ Firas Adnan
Iraq is approaching the peak of infections with the fourth epidemic wave of the Corona virus, and this comes in conjunction with a clear spread of the Omicron mutant, which is expected to be the last stage of the pandemic, given that despite its rapid spread, it has fewer symptoms compared to the previous mutant.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Saif Al-Badr, said, "The Iraqi health system, in conjunction with the increase in the number of dormant cases and injuries, is able to deal with the developments of the epidemiological situation despite its seriousness."
Al-Badr added, in an interview with (Al-Mada), that "the number of those in central care has reached the limits of 200 injured, and these rates may go towards increasing, especially with the continued failure to adhere to preventive measures."
He pointed out, "The ministry is able to deal with developments and stresses the necessity of receiving vaccines, which has become below the required level despite all the warnings that we issue daily." And Al-Badr indicated, "The Omicron mutated acquired the largest number of infections, with rates of up to 80% of the total daily infections recorded in Iraq for the Corona virus."
And he noted, "Iraq is still in the fourth wave, which, according to the current indicators, is more dangerous than the previous waves, especially in terms of the speed of spread and daily infection rates."
And Al-Badr added, "All possibilities still exist that we will enter another new wave, or the emergence of mutants of the virus, and other developments."
And he went on, "The current epidemiological developments are still early in the discussion, and it is not possible to know whether Iraq has passed the peak of the fourth wave or not."
Al-Badr stated, "The turnout for a more difficult stage than the epidemiological situation was in the past is expected, and this requires citizens to also play their role in facing this wave, whether in terms of commitment to preventive measures or receiving vaccinations."
And he indicated, "Our devices and staff, according to their expertise, energies and capabilities, are able to deal with every epidemic outbreak that may occur in the future."
Al-Badr finds, “The issue of knowing the time that this wave will take is also difficult to determine, and therefore the best way is what we have talked about repeatedly in terms of adhering to preventive measures.”
He added, "Most of the injuries that occurred during the past period, as well as the deaths, occurred for the unvaccinated," noting that "the vaccinated with the vaccine, especially the two doses, even with their injury, which is a very small percentage, this injury is not effective and does not often require admission to the hospital." .
Al-Badr went on to say, “Decisions related to confronting the pandemic exist, but we suffer from disparities in their application or lack of commitment to them in many cases, especially from government and private institutions.”
Yesterday, the laboratories of the Ministry of Health conducted 17,791 examinations, which showed the presence of 3,589 injuries, while it was announced that 5,259 patients had recovered, and 17 people died due to the virus, while the number of vaccinated people for yesterday amounted to 31,415 people.
For his part, public health specialist Hassan Al-Qazzaz said in an interview with Al-Mada that "the Omicron mutant is characterized by a very rapid spread, but its symptoms vary between very simple and medium."
Al-Qazzaz added, "The symptoms depend on the body's immunity, the amount of dose it takes, and the amount of anti-vaccines."
He pointed out, "The epidemiological readings show that Omicron is the end of the corona virus, because every mutated virus takes curves that start and get stronger and then gradually decline and then end."
Al-Qazzaz stressed, "The issue of granting the third dose is very necessary in order for the virus to be completely eradicated and not mutate again."
He continues, "Coronavirus infections are inevitable for all, but what distinguishes the vaccinator is that he does not die from the virus, nor does he enter the hospital."
Al-Qazzaz concluded, “Iraq has begun to climb to the peak of infections, and then it will fall and we will finish the Corona file, and with the presence of vaccines, there is no need to fear for people’s lives.”
It is noteworthy that Iraq entered the beginning of this year in the fourth epidemiological wave of the Corona virus, and the infections witnessed a very large jump, but they declined relatively during the past two days, and despite this still warnings of the seriousness of the epidemiological situation and the continued failure to apply preventive measures represented by social distancing, wearing masks and sterilization, as well as receiving the vaccine.
