    Baghdad/ Al-Mawred News 
    , the Government Media Cell announced today, Wednesday, that the border crossings have directly activate the program for checking the customs and tax receipts electronically.
    The cell said in a statement, that "the Border Ports Authority, represented by the Directorate of the Single Trade Exchange Window and the Information Technology Department, in coordination with the General Authority for Customs and Taxes, has started to activate the program for checking the customs and tax receipts electronically through a program prepared with self-efforts by the Border Ports Authority."
    She added that "this comes based on the directives and recommendations of the Diwani Order Committee (22 of 2020) issued by the Committee for the Management and Coordination of Government Activity towards e-governance, and through the team charged with automating ports and customs."
    And the cell continued, "The start of the program on 7/2/2022 is considered as a first stage by sending a joint committee of the aforementioned bodies to the Al-Mandhiriya border port, where this important step is the first starting point for the application of electronic auditing of customs and tax receipts in all other ports."
    And he indicated that "these procedures come as a continuation of the electronic work practiced by the Border Ports Authority, through the electronic platform in force at the main gates of the ports."
    The cell confirmed, "These electronic procedures will contribute to preventing fraud and manipulation of fees or distortion in the description of goods," noting that "the authority is proceeding in coordination with all operating departments, in order to tighten control over border crossings and prevent smuggling attempts or waste of public money."
