mayor of Al-Qaim district in Anbar province, Ahmed Al-Mahlawi, expressed on Tuesday his astonishment at the failure to take any actual steps to operate government factories that have been suspended for more than 18 years.
Al-Mahlawi said in a statement to the "Information" agency, "The Anbar local government is surprised that the central government has not taken any serious steps to operate government factories that have been suspended for more than 18 years, despite the importance of these factories in boosting state imports and the recovery of the province's economic reality."
He added, "The operation of government factories in Anbar will contribute to eliminating unemployment and making shops available to the unemployed in other provinces to work in those factories that need large labors when operating them," noting that "the central government has not taken any steps towards operating these factories that It was previously generating huge financial revenues for the Ministry of Finance.”
Al-Mahlawi explained, "Dozens of local and foreign investment companies approached the central government with their offer as an investment opportunity, but the concerned authorities did not agree to the mechanism of their investment without knowing the reasons for these factories to remain captives of neglect despite their economic importance." finished/ 12a
