Shafaq News/ The Iraqi capital, Baghdad, witnessed, on Wednesday, the establishment of a security and defense exhibition, with the participation of dozens of manufacturers of weapons and military equipment.
Shafak News Agency correspondent stated that 60 local, Arab and foreign military companies displayed their products at the Baghdad International Fair, including light, medium and heavy weapons, in addition to drones, models of helicopters, fighters, tanks and armored vehicles, as well as miniature models of air defense systems and military vehicles for transporting people and equipment, in addition to Anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles and missiles, as well as personal equipment such as military uniforms and protective gear.
The exhibition witnessed the presence of the Iraqi Minister of Defense Jumaa Inad, the head of the Military Industrialization Authority, a number of members of Parliament, leaders and officers from the Ministries of Interior and Defense.
For his part, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, who attended the exhibition, called for developing a comprehensive strategic vision for developing and arming the military and security establishment.
Al-Zamili said in a statement received by Shafak News Agency, that "the ministries of interior and defense should present a comprehensive strategic vision that sets priorities for developing the military and security institution in the fields of armament, training and development."
He stressed that "the House of Representatives will make sufficient financial allocations to support armaments and military and technological industrialization, in a way that contributes to the defense of the nation's borders and capabilities."
He added, "There is no safety or refuge from external ambitions based on authoritarianism, influence and domination, as well as from the danger of extremism and terrorism, except by building a strong military and security institution that possesses the capabilities, expertise, and sufficient equipment to defend the homeland."
Al-Zamili urged the security authorities to benefit from local and foreign expertise in developing capabilities, especially with regard to communications and advanced technologies.
