The Information/Baghdad…
The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Jalal Talabani, renewed, on Saturday, his threat that no gas pipeline will pass in the Kurdistan region of Iraq except over his body, while noting that the majority of the region’s residents and parties reject the current type of government in Kurdistan.
Talabani said in an open dialogue on the sidelines of the work of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Conference, according to a statement seen by / the information /, that “most of the people of Kurdistan and the parties reject the type of government in the Kurdistan Region, we in the Patriotic Union have our own policy and we will not become affiliated with any party or external party.” And most of the Kurdish parties have the same idea and vision of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan regarding the election file, we want to serve the people of Kurdistan and work to improve the reality and the lives of citizens.”
He added: “During our meeting with the United Nations, we saw concern about the differences between the Kurdish parties, and we discussed with the United Nations the problem of elections, the commission, electoral districts, the distribution of seats and the quota of minorities, and we will have another meeting soon. We want to bring the views of all parties closer, and God willing, we will be able to conduct Elections to modify the balance of power in the Kurdistan Region.
He continued: "There is a Kurdish party that signed an agreement with some Iraqi parties, and we had room to sign the same agreement, but we refused, because that would be a major strategic mistake to become a party to the differences between our Shiite or Sunni brothers, and that agreement did not have anything to benefit the sons of The people of Kurdistan. The agreement did not address the issue of the Peshmerga, Kirkuk, or anything that is in the interest of the people of Kurdistan. We must work according to the policy of the nation’s deceased President Mam Jalal. We have to overcome differences and gather the political parties to disperse them. We will succeed in resolving the issue of the President of the Republic.
Talabani stressed, "The oil policy in the Kurdistan region is rejected from our heart, because 60% of oil imports go to companies operating in the oil field. Do we export oil to serve our citizens? Or enrich some foreign companies? We must reform the oil policy. We We have large reserves of gas. We must follow a policy that becomes a factor in benefiting the people of Kurdistan and not the benefit of some foreign companies. We want to export Kurdistan gas with a clear and transparent policy that serves the people of Kurdistan. If any party wants to use gas away from the interests of the people of Kurdistan, I repeat my words No gas pipeline will pass except over the body of Bafel Jalal Talabani." finished/25
