The Integrity Commission announced, on Wednesday, the issuance of two rulings against officials in the ministries of health and defense, indicating that "they deliberately committed embezzlement and violations" of the duties of public office.
A statement by the Commission's Investigation Department, received by Mawazine News, said, "The Rusafa Misdemeanour Court issued a sentence in absentia of severe imprisonment for two years against the former Inspector General of the Ministry of Health, for violations of his job duties," pointing out that "the convict kept priorities, books and documents belonging to the Office of the Inspector General." And not to hand it over after the expiry of his term of office and his dismissal from his position.”
The statement added, "The Karkh Criminal Court - the third body, sentenced the head of the salaries committee in the General Directorate of Warrior Affairs in the Ministry of Defense to six years in prison."
He pointed out that "the two courts, after reviewing the evidence obtained in the two cases, found them sufficient and convincing to convict, so they issued a conviction decision in accordance with the provisions of Articles (331) of the Penal Code against the accused in the first case, and (315) against the accused in the second case."
