Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs set a condition for the inclusion of new families in social care, while revealing privileges in granting loans to the unemployed.
Ministry spokesman Najm Al-Aqabi said, in a statement, that "the issue of including new families in social care is associated with the provision of financial allocations to the ministry."
He explained, "The ministry continues to grant small loans," noting that "33 of those loans were launched in Baghdad and the governorates with privileges that include zero interest and the loan repayment period is 5 years, considering the first year of grace."
The Social Protection Department mentioned, earlier, reasons that it said prevented the expansion of the coverage of new families with protection salaries.
The Director General of Social Protection, Zikra Abdel Rahim, told Al-Iraqiya News, followed by the news agency, that "large amounts of welfare funds were cut during the 2021 budget according to the amended version by the Parliamentary Finance Committee, and this affected the lack of expansion of the network and the inclusion of a larger number of citizens."
She explained, "The volume of funds that were deducted during the 2021 budget amounted to more than one trillion and 800 billion Iraqi dinars, as the volume of funds previously allocated was 5 trillion and 700 billion dinars," noting that "the deduction caused the non-inclusion of new families within social protection."
