    Today, Saturday, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture revealed internal and external moves to eliminate desertification in the country, while confirming the existence of efforts to rehabilitate forests and natural pasture stations. 
    The Director General of the Department of Forestry and Combating Desertification in the Ministry of Agriculture, Rawiya Mezal, said that "the Department of Forestry and Combating Desertification in the Ministry of Agriculture will start a afforestation campaign that will include a number of sites in the country, pointing out that" the department is now in the process of preparing for the annual autumn campaign to combat desertification and reduce its effects.     She noted that "at the international level, special working papers have been prepared for each ministry that is submitted with delegations to develop a strategic vision to reduce the negative impacts and combat desertification, and also focus on the water and drought issues that Iraq suffers from," noting that "the papers will be presented at the Cairo Conference of the Parties."     She continued, "There are efforts to rehabilitate forests in the country, and preparations are in place to prepare the work requirements of the Forest Guide and a number of natural pasture stations to increase natural vegetation, and provide vegetation cover to improve the environment."
    And she indicated that "the ministry is seeking to restore the activity of the desert oases project in Anbar Governorate, which was attacked by terrorist gangs ISIS during the invasion of the province," noting that "work is underway to rehabilitate a number of these oases by providing work requirements and manpower, as well as On the participation of the local population in the business, for the purpose of absorbing unemployment, in addition to being a development and environmental project that creates investment and development opportunities in the desert lands.
