The Ministry of Commerce confirmed, on Tuesday, the imminent conduct of tenders to secure stocks of food basket items and wheat sufficient for the first months of next year.
The Director of the Commercial and Financial Control Department, Muhammad Hanoun, stated in a press statement, “The Food Security Law focused on three axes, which are improving the vocabulary of the food basket in terms of quality, paying the dues of farmers and farmers during the wheat marketing season, in addition to securing strategic stocks of wheat in anticipation of its need in the seasons. future for a period of at least 6 months.
Pointing out that "there is a plan to contract to buy one million tons of foreign wheat to secure storage for the first months of next year, within government contracting mechanisms."
Hannoun revealed that "there are tenders this week to import 100,000 tons of American rice during the current or next month through the southern ports."
He said, "The ministry distributed the seventh ration of flour and the ninth of the food basket items, and we are ready to prepare the tenth ration of the basket among the agents in Baghdad and the provinces."
