    Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani affirmed, on Tuesday, the government's intention to involve international companies to implement the seawater desalination project in Basra. 
    The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement, "Al-Sudani chaired a meeting dedicated to discussing the sea water desalination project in Basra Governorate, during which they discussed the acceleration of contracting and financing mechanisms, and the implementation steps in this regard." 
    The Prime Minister affirmed, according to the statement, "the government's intention to involve solid international companies in the implementation of the project, in order to present an efficient achievement and radically end the water desalination file."
    The statement added, "The meeting was attended by the Minister of Construction, Housing and Municipalities, the Chairman of the Board of Advisers and a number of officials in the concerned sectors, as well as representatives of the Austrian consulting office and the executing company / ILF. The project will also include the construction of a new power station, in addition to providing water to raise the capacities of oil reservoirs."
