    Today, Saturday, the Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, revealed a project to rehabilitate 10 large teaching hospitals within the 2023 budget, while indicating that the ministry is in the process of establishing new centers for blood tests in 3 governorates to facilitate services for thalassemia patients.
    Al-Hasnawi said, "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani pays great attention to health services, and it is part of his government program that emphasizes service sectors, especially the health sector."
    He pointed out that "there are several problems facing the ministry, including the failure to approve the budget for the year 2022, as well as the transfer of powers or the disengagement of health departments from the governorate to the health department, in addition to the The fact that there is a real financial crisis facing the ministry."
    He added, "During our visit to the holy city of Najaf, we were briefed on the great efforts of the Ministry of Health's staff, including doctors, nurses, technicians, and administrators, and we listened to a full explanation and saw directly with the Patients, who suffer from some problems related to the supply of medicines and some medical supplies," stressing: "We will work to provide them." quickly over the next few days.
    He pointed out that "there is a project within the 2023 budget to rehabilitate the 10 large educational hospitals in Iraq," noting that "this project has allocated its funds within the 2023 draft budget."
    Al-Hasnawi explained, “There are a number of issues related to services, and we will work to fix them in cooperation with the health departments in the governorates.”
    Regarding the infection of one of the thalassemia patients with immunodeficiency disease as a result of a medical error, he said: “We need very accurate medical examinations, which are available only at the reference blood bank in Baghdad, where we tried in a certain way to deliver these services to some governorates,” stressing: “We will work to establish blood test centers in three governorates, except for the capital, Baghdad, in order to facilitate blood tests for thalassemia patients.”
