Headed to resolve the file of free lecturers in the next year's budget
Yesterday, Saturday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani called on all free lecturers to return to their schools, while announcing the tendency to resolve the lecturers’ file within the 2023 budget.
This comes at a time when the Parliamentary Education Committee revealed a move on the issue of a student in Karbala who was returned from the sixth preparatory stage to the second intermediate stage.
The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement, which (Al-Mada) received a copy of, that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani received representatives of the free lecturers’ coordination at the Ministry of Education in all governorates, in the presence of representatives of the Iraqi Teachers Syndicate,” noting that “Al-Sudani listened with interest. To a detailed explanation of the status and numbers of free lecturers, and their efforts to support the Ministry of Education by filling the shortfall in its educational staff.
Al-Sudani praised, according to the statement, “the great role of this segment, which provided great services to the country for free, which reflects the degree of altruism they enjoy, without this meaning that their rights are neglected.”
He stressed that "the file of free lecturers receives the government's attention," calling on "all free lecturers to return to their schools."
Al-Sudani indicated that “meetings are continuing with the Ministry of Finance and governors to determine the numbers of free lecturers, and the necessary allocations to resolve this file within the 2023 budget,” stressing that “the government is working continuously and making every effort to create job opportunities in various new sectors.”
For her part, a member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, Zaytoun al-Dulaimi, said in a televised statement, followed by (Al-Mada), that “the committee is supportive of free lecturers, especially since there is a severe shortage in the numbers of teachers.”
Al-Dulaimi added, "There is a delay in installing free lecturers, and there is a conflict between the Ministry of Education and the governorates regarding the number of lecturers."
She pointed out that “the country needs twice the number of lecturers present to fill teaching vacancies,” stressing “the existence of a paragraph for lecturers and their confirmation in the 2023 budget.”
And the committee had stated, in a statement received by (Al-Mada), that it “has been following with great interest since the days of the demonstrations and strike of thousands of lecturers and administrators of 2020, who are demanding their legitimate rights to receive their financial dues.”
The statement added, “The Education Committee supports their demands, and stresses the necessity of fairness to them,” calling on the Ministers of Education, Ibrahim Namis al-Jubouri, and Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, to “solve the file of the lecturers in obtaining their full dues and confirming them.” For their efforts and expertise.
He pointed out, “The financial costs of the 2020 lecturers and administrators are in the ministry, according to the tables; Representatives of the lecturers handed it over to the ministry for the second time in a row.”
And the statement went on, that “the committee is following up the issue of the lecturers with the Ministry of Finance; We constantly convey the demands of this important and vital segment. who were the backbone of the educational process in the country, and we are confident that the ministry will do justice to them and grant them their full rights; In honor of them and appreciation for their efforts.
For his part, the other member of the committee, Falah Al-Qaisi, said in a statement received by (Al-Mada), that “social networking sites circulated a video clip about a strange situation in the Iraqi educational community; to a student from the people of Karbala named Hussein Zahed Aliwi; He succeeded in the preparatory stages until he reached the literary sixth.
He explained that “after he moved to several schools, and during his preparation for the mid-year exams, the principal of his school asked him to repeat the second intermediate grade again; under the pretext that there is no document proving his success in it.” Al-Qaisi called on the Minister of Education, Ibrahim Names al-Jubouri, to “form an investigative committee to look into the merits of this case and reveal it, and to clarify the truth of the matter, and to hold those responsible for this problem accountable so that it does not recur again and harm the reputation of the educational process in Iraq.”
