    Economy News - Baghdad
On Saturday, the director of the Iraqi Economic and Political Center, Wissam Hammal Al-Helou, revealed that a number of malls in the capital, Baghdad, had closed, coinciding with New Year's Eve.
And Al-Helou mentioned in a statement, that "a number of the departments of commercial malls on the Karkh and Al-Rusafa side have officially announced the closure for a period of one day, coinciding with New Year's Eve, and that the malls that will close today, Saturday, are as follows:
    1. Baghdad Mall (Al-Harithiya) Al-Karkh
    2. Mansour Mall/ Karkh
    3. Zayouna Mall/ Rusafa 4.
    Dream City Mall/ Rusafa
    5. Town Center Mall/ Karkh

Al-Helou added, "A number of other commercial malls in the capital, Baghdad, on the side of Karkh and Rusafa, have announced that they will be open and have allocated activities and competitions to coincide with New Year's celebrations, and the malls' entry has been allocated to families only without the entry of young people, and that the malls that will be open today, Saturday, are as follows :
    1. Babylon Mall / Karkh
    2. Al-Nakheel Mall / Rusafa
    3. Cairo Mall / Rusafa
    4. Oasis Mall / Al-Jardia / Rusafa
    5. Ishtar Mall / Rusafa

And he continued, "Baghdad is witnessing the construction of a number of commercial malls on the Karkh and Rusafa side, and in important and vital places and streets, which causes great traffic momentum on official holidays and on holidays and events, and that most of the commercial malls have obtained investment approvals over the course of previous governments from 2003 to Today, some of them are witnessing great confusion about granting investment approvals, the existence of a number of administrative violations with the competent government agencies, and the proximity of some geographical locations to malls and places, especially since some malls are located in one square and one street, which causes a huge traffic jam and a huge rise in the prices of residential and commercial real estate in Baghdad, which may be the price per square meter near mall sites is very high and exceeds the price per square meter in Arab and foreign capitals such as Dubai and London, causing confusion about how to grant construction approvals randomly, which creates an irregular planning in the urban design of the capital, Baghdad.
