Shafaq News/ The head of the Supreme Judicial Council in Iraq, Faeq Zaidan, described, on Thursday, the assassination of leaders of the Popular Mobilization Forces by an American plane in 2020, as a "treacherous crime that has no legal basis."
This came in a speech delivered by Zaidan during an official forum held in Baghdad, today, on the third anniversary of the American assassination operation that targeted, with a drone, the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, and the commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani, and their companions near Baghdad International Airport in 2020.

The head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan, said, "The tragic memory of the martyrdom of the victory leaders is a treacherous crime that has no legal basis," indicating that the martyrdom of the victory leaders is a great loss that will not be compensated.
Zidan added, "The responsibility of the judiciary to hold accountable those who committed the crime against the leaders of victory doubles," pointing out that "the judiciary will not hesitate to take legal measures against those who prove evidence of their participation in the crime of assassinating the leaders of victory."
And Zaidan said, "The judiciary issued an arrest warrant against the former US president, who confessed to having committed the crime," calling on "those investigating the assassination of the victory leaders to make an exceptional effort to uncover the perpetrators."
Zaidan touched on the fatwa of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sistani, with a sufficient jihad to confront ISIS in 2024, noting that "the fatwa of the rational authority thwarted the criminal scheme of ISIS."

Chief Justice of Iraq: We issued an arrest warrant against Trump, and we will not hesitate to take legal action
On January 7, 2022, the Supreme Judicial Council in Iraq announced the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Rusafa Investigation Court in Baghdad for former US President Donald Trump, as part of the investigation into the assassination of the Popular Mobilization Forces commander, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, with an American strike in Baghdad, accompanied by the Iranian general, Qassem. Soleimani.
According to an official statement, issued at the time, the decision is based on the provisions of Article 406 of the Iraqi Penal Code in force, stressing that the investigation procedures to find out the other participants in the implementation of this crime will continue, whether they are Iraqis or foreigners.
