Today, Monday, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities announced the provision of investment opportunities to revive the tourism sector and work to facilitate the necessary procedures for tourists to enter Iraq, while stressing that the success of Basra in receiving the Gulf masses is evidence of a decent tourist atmosphere.
The ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed Al-Olayawi, told the official agency, followed by (Al-Oula News), that “the Tourism Authority presented investment opportunities a while ago in Baghdad and a group of provinces, as it aspires to the presence of solid companies operating in Iraq at the level of providing the necessary infrastructure to receive tourists from All over the world".
Al-Alaywi added, "Iraq contains good tourism facilities located in Baghdad and the provinces," noting that "Basra's success in receiving a large number of Gulf and Iraqi audiences during the Gulf 25 is evidence of a decent tourist atmosphere."
He pointed out, "The Tourism Authority is working to provide investment opportunities to revive the tourism sector, as well as working to follow up all tourism facilities and the work of delegations, and facilitating the necessary procedures for their entry into Iraq."
He explained, "The entry of tourists to Iraq, whether from foreign or Arab countries, requires the tourist to obtain official approvals from the relevant authorities that participate with the Tourism Authority and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior, as each party has its opinion on arrivals from outside Iraq."
He continued, "This is also in effect in all countries of the world, as the process of granting a visa to any tourist goes through a set of requirements that he must provide, and he may or may not obtain a visa."
He stressed, "The commission continues to provide the best requirements for a solid tourism environment in Iraq, and this is evident in a number of its follow-ups and monitoring of the tourism sectors throughout the Iraqi governorates."
