    Members of the US Congress directed a request to President Joe Biden to punish Iraqi banks that they said were involved in money laundering and smuggling of US dollars to Iran, which is sanctioned by Washington.

    Three members of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the US Congress who belong to the Republican Party addressed US President Joe Biden, asking him to clarify the procedures of the US administration and the Treasury Department towards Iraqi banks involved in money laundering and smuggling US dollars to Iran.

    The three American representatives confirmed that these banks act as a front for financing Iranian official institutions, calling on the US administration to take punitive measures against those banks and tighten the screws on their operations in US dollars.    [/size]
