    Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani discussed, on Saturday, with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, a package of files, in Munich.

    A statement by Al-Sudani’s office, of which “NAS” received a copy, stated (February 18, 2023), “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani received, at his residence, this morning, Saturday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, on the sidelines of his participation in the Munich Security Conference in its session. The 59".  
      
    He added, "The meeting witnessed discussions on the files of bilateral relations, and ways to strengthen and develop them at various levels and fields, in a way that enhances Iraq's ability to face economic challenges and development requirements."  
      
    Al-Sudani stressed, according to the statement, "Iraq's giving special priority to economic reforms, the government's focus on developing the energy sector, and establishing development and investment partnerships in the gas sector."  
      
    Al-Sudani also explained, "Iraq's desire to consolidate cooperation with the United States to combat terrorism, within the framework of providing training, advice and information exchange for the Iraqi security forces, in a way that preserves Iraq's sovereignty and independence," stressing that "the government puts the goal of establishing balanced relations in the foreground, in addition to the importance of the role Iraq in establishing stability in the region.  
      
    For his part, Blinken praised, according to the statement, "the Iraqi government plans for reform and development, and for giving the energy sector a priority in work and development."  
      
    The US government's appreciation of Iraq's regional role in stabilizing stability reaffirmed support for the Iraqi government in its progressive, reform and development plans at various levels and fields.
