    Baghdad today - Baghdad
A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Abdel-Amir Al-Mayahi, revealed today, Thursday, that the law of recovering the proceeds of corruption is imminent, indicating that many points of it will deter bribery.
Al-Mayahi told (Baghdad Today) that "there are important paragraphs that will be included in the law that was previously read, and we will work to read it a second reading and then go to pass it."
He added, "The law includes points related to the courts' confiscation of all amounts and proceeds of those who committed the crime by enriching state funds," noting that "many points that deter bribery will also be included in the law."
Al-Mayahi indicated that "this law is one of the most important things that will be legislated in the House of Representatives and aims to preserve public money," stressing that "any general amnesty law will not include those accused of corruption."
Al-Mayahi indicated that "there is a great deal of work between the government and parliament for the purpose of returning the money smuggled from abroad."
It is noteworthy that the Sudanese Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a, stressed on more than one occasion the need for international cooperation with Iraq to recover the funds looted through corruption files over the past years.
Al-Sudani stressed, according to press statements, that "recovering money from abroad is a priority for the government," noting that "the battle against corruption is crucial."
