    [size=45]Yesterday, Saturday, the Ministry of Transport announced its intention to operate the first phase of the Great Welcome Square project, at the end of the current month of Ramadan.[/size]
    [size=45]The media office of the Ministry of Transport said in a statement received by (Al-Mada) that “the General Company for Iraqi Ports, one of the ministry’s formations, and according to the directives of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi, stressed the need to implement infrastructure projects for Iraq’s ports.”[/size]
    [size=45]The statement confirmed, "The completion stages in the first part of Welcome Square have reached their final stage."[/size]
    [size=45]He pointed out, "Work is currently underway to cover the main exit road / the left side with asphalt, as the completion rate has reached 95%."[/size]
    [size=45]The statement quoted the general manager of the company, Dr. Farhan Al-Fartousi, as saying, "It is hoped that the cladding operations of the main road leading to the Welcome Square will be completed by the end of this month."[/size]
    [size=45]Al-Fartousi stressed, “The minister’s directives stipulate the need to complete all important projects related to the Ministry of Transport, within the specified times, and to overcome any obstacles and address them.”[/size]
    [size=45]The statement confirmed, "After the completion of this project, the General Company for Iraqi Ports will announce the possibility of operating the first phase of the Welcome Square project, in implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. (90) of 2020."[/size]
    [size=45]He explained, "The infrastructure rehabilitation project includes the construction of a road with a width of (16) meters, and by (4) meters in each direction, in order to accommodate the movement of entry and exit of trucks, and to provide sufficient flow to facilitate unloading, shipping and clearance of goods in Iraqi ports."[/size]
    [size=45]The statement indicated, “The specifications that were approved were high, as the cladding process was 5 cm thick and with high tolerance according to (Marshall’s) examination to evaluate the properties of the asphalt mixture. ". For her part, the representative from Basra, Zahra Al-Bajari, said, "The failure to grant the port of Faw to an investor has made work with it delayed to this degree, and it may be delayed for decades to come."[/size]
    [size=45]And Al-Bajari continued, “Government funding carries problems, as it is linked to the allocation of funds in budgets, and in the case of Iraq, budgets are not always stable or reliable, as “there were years in which funds were not allocated for the project in the budget, and other years in which budgets were not approved. originally in the country.[/size]
    [size=45]She pointed out, “The lack of budgets and financing delays the port greatly, as the plan is to allocate funds to build 5 berths every four years, and since the plan includes 95 berths, this may take decades.”[/size]
    [size=45]Al-Bajari explained, “The port, in order for it to be truly effective, needs to establish what is known in Iraq as the (dry channel), which is a land route linking the port to export routes in the east, west and north of the country, which has not yet been started, in addition to unloading and storage facilities.” And other infrastructure, and all of this is behind because of government funding.”[/size]
    [size=45]Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani had confirmed that "all Iraqis are following the Faw project, and monitoring the government's credibility, and we will always be honest with our people, and there will be other visits, and there is no choice but to implement the Faw port."[/size]
    [size=45]It is noteworthy that a statement by the Ministry of Planning stated that the specialized teams were briefed on the field on the projects that are currently being implemented, which include the construction of container terminal (A) berth structures at a cost of (511) million dollars, which includes the construction of a quay wall with a length of (1750) meters and digging a trench with an amount of (2.7) million cubic meters, in addition to the construction of dams with a length of (22.3) km and iron piles with a number of (1734) piles, as the completion rate reached more than (44%).[/size]
    [size=45]And the statement continued, “The second project includes the construction of the port’s navigational canal at a cost of (314) million dollars, which includes marine drilling for the canal for a distance of (23) km and a depth of (19.8) meters. )”.[/size]
    [size=45]The statement indicated that “the third project includes the establishment of the first phase of marine infrastructure works for drilling and filling works, at a cost of (726) million dollars, which includes marine drilling (48.4) million cubic meters, at a depth of (19.8) meters, and land reclamation with an amount of (14.1) million square meters.” To construct lanes for the “access road” with a length of (3.6) km and a width of (30) m. With an achievement rate of approximately (39.48%).[/size]
    [size=45]He pointed out, “The Al-Faw Grand Port project consists of several phases. The first phase includes (11) projects, of which (6) have been fully completed, and the remaining (5) projects are expected to be completed in 2025, and the completion rate has reached more than (37%). ".[/size]
    [size=45]And the statement went on, that "the primary production capacity of the large port of Faw project ranges between (20-40) million tons annually, at a total cost of more than (4) billion and (777) million dollars."[/size]
