    Information/Baghdad…
A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Jamal Cougar, warned today, Thursday, of the consequences of delaying the approval of the current year’s budget, in light of the economic crisis related to its inability to pay the salaries of its employees and abide by its financial pledges.

Cougar said in a statement to Al-Maalouma agency, "The approval of the 2023 budget belongs to the government, as it was late in sending the final draft to the House of Representatives. The matter was passed during the past sessions.
" The investment aspect, which is more important during the current period.”
Cougar pointed out, “With the approval of the budget, there will be large liquidity that will go to the private sector, to companies, and to the Iraqi market, which will help create job opportunities, turnover, and a large commercial movement.” And he pointed out,
“ Failure to approve the draft budget law during the next few period will threaten the investment side in Iraq to stop due to the lack of funds that cover operating expenses.
The first and second readings of the 2023 draft budget were accompanied by many objections, including the large deficit and the fact that for the first time it is a budget for three years, and the part of the operational budget is very high, and the fourth objection is that there are vital and important ministries that are marginalized in terms of allocations.
The budget came with a total of proposed expenditures amounting to 197.8 trillion dinars ($152.2 billion), and the price of a barrel of oil is about $70 per barrel, with a financial deficit of 63 trillion dinars ($48.5 billion), according to Prime Minister Muhammad al-Sudani, who indicated that this budget will be repeated in The next two years as well.
