    Baghdad today - Baghdad 
    Today, Tuesday, Minister of Planning Muhammad Ali Tamim directed the formation of committees on the national development plan for the next five years.
    A statement by the ministry, which was received by (Baghdad Today), stated that “the Minister of Planning chaired, on Tuesday, a meeting of the Supreme Committee to prepare the five-year national development plan 2023-2027, with the participation of a number of deputies from the Finance Committee, the Economic and Investment Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, the governors of Baghdad, Nineveh and Basra, and the economic advisor. The Prime Minister, the undersecretaries of a number of ministries, heads of federations and a number of general managers who represent ministries and entities not linked to a ministry. 
    During the meeting, the minister stressed that "the development plan that is being prepared is realistic and ambitious, and that the executive authorities can achieve their basic goals, according to the economic reality," according to the statement. 
     Tamim explained that it "will be consistent with the government program and the ministerial curriculum, in supporting the local branches represented by the provincial governments, in light of the population increases, which necessitates moving towards investing in projects with a social dimension, and focusing on the infrastructure related to the productive sectors, especially the agricultural and industrial sectors." Tourism and work to achieve economic diversification, in order to address development gaps and reduce disparities. 
    The minister directed "the formation of specialized sub-committees whose mission is to follow up on what is achieved of the plan's goals on a regular basis, in order to address any challenges or problems facing the implementation of the plan." 
    The statement added, "The meeting witnessed a discussion of the general framework of the next development plan, the economic vision, goals, priorities, and the proposed economic model for the plan, and what was achieved during the meeting of the goals of the previous five-year plan 2018-2022 was reviewed."
