    Shafaq News/ Iraq ranked fifth at the level of Arab countries and 98 globally in the list of the happiest countries in the world for the year 2023, out of 137 countries, according to the (Visual Capitalist) website, which focuses on topics including markets, technology, energy and the global economy. 




    A report prepared by the website, seen by Shafaq News Agency, focused on measuring subjective ideas such as happiness and life satisfaction, which it considered "difficult work".

    The researchers behind the report simply asked people how satisfied they were with their lives, and scores were assigned using these self-reported answers from people living in different countries, as well as quality-of-life factors. 

    According to the report, the global average happiness score is currently 5.5 out of 10, down 0.1 from last year.

    According to the classification, Finland ranked first in the happiest countries in the world in 2023 out of 137 countries listed in the table with a score of 7.8 out of ten, followed by Denmark with a score of 7.6, followed by Iceland with a score of 7.6 as well, then Israel with a score of 7.5, and the Netherlands came fifth with a score 7.4, while Afghanistan came at the bottom of the ranking with a score of 1.9, and it is the least happy country in the world, followed by Lebanon with a score of 2.4.

    And in the Arab world, the United Arab Emirates ranked 26th in the world and the first in the Arab world with a score of 6.6, Saudi Arabia ranked 30th globally and the second in the Arab world with a score of 6.5, followed by Bahrain ranked 42nd globally and the third in the Arab world with a score of 6.2, followed by Algeria ranked 81st globally and fourth in the Arab world with a score of 5.3, followed by Iraq ranked 98th globally and fifth in the Arab world with a score of 5 Then Palestine ranked 99th and sixth in the Arab world, followed by Morocco ranked 100th and seventh in the Arab world, Mauritania ranked 103rd and eighth in the Arab world, Tunisia ranked 110th and ninth in the Arab world, Egypt ranked 121st globally and tenth in the Arab world, Jordan ranked 123rd globally, eleventh in the Arab world, and Lebanon ranked 136th globally and the twelfth in the Arab world.

    The researchers did not address all Arab countries such as Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Syria, Sudan and Yemen.
