An official source revealed, on Friday, that many oil companies in Kurdistan laid off a high percentage of their employees or stopped their services and informed them not to pay their salaries due to the continued failure to resume the region's oil.
Almost three months have passed since the decision to stop exporting Kurdistan's oil, which amounts to about 480,000 barrels per day, after the federal government won an international decision against Turkey for violating the laws in dealing with the region away from the center with regard to oil transactions.
According to what the source told "Baghdad Today", many oil companies operating in Kurdistan, 70 percent of them, granted "rest" leave to their employees without pay due to the cessation and decline in oil production levels after the decision of the International Tribunal in Paris.
And he confirms that “some” companies have reduced the salaries of their continuing employees to levels amounting to more than half. He explained that in the event that “the extension of the non-resumption of oil continues, the salaries of many employees are in danger and may lead to the termination of their services completely, with the suspension of the work of many oil-producing companies.”
Last March, Iraq won an arbitration case that it filed before the Arbitral Tribunal of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris against Ankara regarding the export of crude oil from the Kurdistan region through the Turkish port of Ceyhan without referring to the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company “SOMO”.
As a result of the decision, the export of Kurdistan's oil, amounting to 480,000 barrels per day, stopped on March 25, and the stopped flows represent only about 0.5% of global oil supplies, without resuming until today.
Where indicators of damage and financial losses amounted to more than one billion dollars per month, at a rate of 33 million dollars per day, by calculating the average price per barrel at 70 dollars, according to experts in the field of oil.

Baghdad today - Kurdistan
Today, Friday, an official source revealed that many oil companies in Kurdistan laid off a high percentage of their employees or stopped their services and informed them not to pay their salaries due to the continued failure to resume the region's oil.
Almost three months have passed since the decision to stop exporting Kurdistan's oil, which amounts to about 480,000 barrels per day, after the federal government won an international decision against Turkey for violating the laws in dealing with the region away from the center with regard to oil transactions.
According to what the source told "Baghdad Today", many oil companies operating in Kurdistan, 70 percent of them, granted "rest" leave to their employees without pay due to the halt and decline in oil production levels after the decision of the International Tribunal in Paris.
And he confirms that "some" companies have reduced the salaries of their continuing employees to levels amounting to more than half. He explained that in the event that "the extension of the non-resumption of oil continues, the salaries of many employees are in danger and may lead to the termination of their services completely, with the suspension of the work of many oil-producing companies."
Last March, Iraq won an arbitration case that it filed before the Arbitration Board of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris against Ankara regarding the export of crude oil from the Kurdistan region through the Turkish port of Ceyhan without referring to the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company "SOMO".
