Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Shakhwan Abdullah, said that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani and the Baghdad delegation no longer have any demands from the KRG delegation.
Stressing that the federal government “is now at a stage that requires it to send the dues of the Kurdistan Region,” pointing out that the final decision to send the region’s salaries “is up to the joint committee in Baghdad and Erbil.”
In addition, Abdullah indicated, in an interview with Kurdistan 24, that the previous meetings of the delegation of the regional government in Baghdad "were very good."
He added, “At the request of the Iraqi Ministry of Finance, Al-Sudani asked the regional government delegation to provide some details that the delegation provided without hesitation.”
He continued, "There are two visions of the committee, the first is to finance the Kurdistan Region on a monthly basis, and the second opinion is to calculate the financial dues of the region as of 1/1/2023 as stated in the Federal Budget Law."
In addition, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament confirmed, "They are working to ensure that funding continues on a monthly basis, according to actual expenditures."
Pointing out that the Baghdad delegation "visited the Kurdistan Region during the past months, and accomplished a very good job, and its members expressed their satisfaction with that visit and the transparency they encountered on the part of the regional government."
