    {Local: Al-Furat News} The Director General of the Iraqi Ports Company, Farhan Al-Fartusi, revealed that the work stages in Section No. 2 of Berth Number One in the Grand Al-Faw Port have been completed and reached 100%, while Section No. 2 has reached completion rates exceeding 75%. This came. During a tour of Al-Faw Grand Port to see the progress of work on the five berths and container yard projects.
    Al-Fartusi said in a press statement that the reinforcement of Section No. 2 is complete and is awaiting inspection and testing by the Italian consultant, and then the remaining parts will be cast. As for Section No. 3 in Pier No. 1, it has reached the semi-final stages of reinforcement, and so are the rest of the sections, which are four.
    Al-Fartusi noted that the completion rates exceeded 71% for the five berths project and 61% for the container yard.
    While the entrance to the project is witnessing a trial pouring of the pre-final layer of the first section of the highway, the tunnel project is proceeding at a very good pace. As for the internal navigation channel, the depths have reached advanced stages as planned. As for the external navigation channel, work has also reached completion. Good stages and will be higher at the end of this year after the entry of two rigs, one operating in the longitudinal section at high depths and the other at low depths.
    Al-Fartusi pointed out that work on all projects at the Grand Al-Faw Port is progressing rapidly, and there is clear government support and follow-up by the Minister of Transport in addition to personal follow-up by the Prime Minister, as well as parliamentary support to complete this project on its scheduled date or shorter than that.
    Al-Fartusi pointed out that there are surprises in the project that will be announced soon, according to him. As for the operation, the Director General of the Iraqi Ports Company said that the company took the initiative for more than six months to study the operating mechanism, and within two months, a specialized team was formed from all the ministry’s formations for the purpose of studying the economic model and determining the economic vision. The legality of the operating mechanism will be submitted to the minister very soon and will not be delayed until the end of this week for discussion and study, then presenting it to the Iraqi government, as the Grand Al-Faw Port project is a strategic project and is within the jurisdiction of the government, and the mechanism will be announced after its approval by the latter.
    While the director of the five piers project, Raed Al-Sharifi, confirmed during his speech to Al-Murbad that the work stages are progressing at a good pace and the completion rates are advanced, reaching more than 73%, as they exceeded the plan and the countdown to receiving the project has begun.
    He stated that the staff of the Grand Al-Faw Port are focusing on the specifications, and the goal is being achieved gradually with monitoring by the Italian consultant, who is keeping pace with all activities related to implementation and monitoring of the specifications, in addition to the fact that the Korean company Daewoo is implementing it in the required manner.
    Al-Sharifi noted that next month will witness the completion of Pier No. One, in addition to the fact that all piers are being completed according to the specified time.
