    Economy News - Baghdad
Today, Sunday, the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Tourism, Antiquities and Education, Qahtan al-Jubouri, announced the government’s plans to revitalize the tourism sector and invest in it, while revealing the existence of a government movement to present an integrated vision about revitalizing the tourism sector.
Al-Jubouri said, in his speech during a workshop held by the Tourism Authority under the title (Investment and Tourism Development Prospects, Reality, Challenges and Ambition), followed by “Al-Iqtisad News”, that “it is within the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, to revitalize the tourism sector in Iraq and make it one of the sectors supporting the national economy.” It was decided to hold workshops in this regard.
He explained, "The tourism sector is one of the important sectors in countries," noting that "most countries in the world are moving towards supporting and revitalizing this sector."
He pointed out that "the tourism sector in Iraq has gone through many accumulations since 1980 until now, which caused a delay in activating and revitalizing this sector," stressing that "the Prime Minister directly directed those concerned with the tourism sector to activate it in a way that is consistent with the government program."
He added, "There is movement with the Ministry of Culture, the Tourism Authority, and the relevant departments towards revitalizing this sector and activating investment in it, especially since the Prime Minister directed that investment have a major role in this sector."
He continued, "There is a trend towards declaring tourist facilities in the Ministry of Culture and referring them for investment, such as hotels and other facilities," pointing to "the Prime Minister's support for the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities and its support for all sectors towards activating services for the Iraqi citizen, as well as supporting the national economy."
He noted, "There is coordination between the Prime Minister's Office and the Tourism Authority in order to present an integrated vision to the Prime Minister to revitalize the tourism sector."
