{Politics: Al-Furat News} Today, Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani supervised the holding of the second simulation of the provincial council elections, organized by the Independent High Electoral Commission, in the presence of the head of the National State Forces Alliance, Mr. Ammar Al-Hakim, and a number of representatives of political entities.
The Prime Minister explained that “provincial council elections receive direct attention and follow-up from the government, as they represent a constitutional entitlement and a commitment to its government program in holding elections that were delayed ten years,” noting that the commission was supported by a package of decisions taken by the Council of Ministers, to facilitate work and secure allocations. The necessary financial support, as well as supportive measures from ministries and governors, to provide everything related to the logistical aspects and complete the requirements.
He stated that the simulation process that took place today includes 920 electoral centers throughout Iraq, including the Iraqi Kurdistan region, and it is a completely electronic process, in which the human factor has no role, as the reliability of the devices was verified and confirmed in accordance with the law, through the Commission’s programs and examining companies, stressing that Representatives of political entities and forces should be present, in order to reassure and examine the integrity of the conduct of the electoral process by the participants.
Al-Sudani stressed that there are programmes, procedures and teams assigned to the oversight bodies, and special committees to follow up on state institutions and officials, ensure that state resources are not used to support their candidates, and maintain the principle of equal opportunities and equality.
