The General Company for Central Markets in Babylon announced the imminent opening of central markets in the province.
The director of the central markets branch in the governorate, Thara Ajam, said in a statement to “Al-Sabah”: “Work is continuing to rehabilitate the central markets building in the center of the city of Hilla, in addition to an adjacent building to be the headquarters of the central markets.”
She added that the central markets will be managed by a group of investors contracting with the company, noting that it will provide imported goods from various reputable international origins.
She expected that the official opening of the central markets would be in March of next year after they are fully rehabilitated, stressing that the Central Markets Branch in Babylon has cooperation with the rest of the departments to equip them with the various materials they need in accordance with the administrative, legal and financial controls and contexts in particular
.
The director of the Central Markets Branch in Babylon stated, “Some departments are reluctant to purchase from the company and we do not know the reasons. This is why we call on the regulatory authorities to audit the procurement committees in the departments.”
