    Today, Tuesday, the General Traffic Directorate announced that it has begun installing speed radars and modern cameras at 10 intersections on the Karkh and Rusafa sides in the capital, Baghdad, while specifying the completion rate of the traffic sign production plant and the date of its opening.
    The spokesman for the Traffic Directorate, Ziyad Al-Qaisi, said in an interview followed by “Al-Ma’louma”: “Under the guidance of the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, and under the direct supervision of the General Director of Traffic, for the first time after 2003, a traffic laboratory for traffic plates was established, which is considered a major achievement.” Investigate the age of the current government.
    Al-Qaisi added, “The factory will produce traffic signs, which will eliminate the need for imports, as it has been completed at a rate ranging from 75 to 80 percent,” stressing that “it will open in early 2024.”
    Regarding the installation of modern radars and cameras, he explained that “the Minister of the Interior is interested in this issue, and there is supervision by the General Traffic Director and the traffic directors in Baghdad and the governorates regarding this, and there are contracts within the Ministry of Interior’s plan to install surveillance cameras and speed radars.”
    He pointed out, "There is a campaign in cooperation with a reputable international company to install cameras and speed radars at 5 intersections next to Al-Karkh, and 5 intersections in Al-Rusafa."
    He continued: "We have begun installing cameras and speed radars at the Al-Shaab Stadium intersection, Al-Nakhil intersection, the Fashion intersection, and the Hama intersection, as well as 5 intersections on the Karkh side. The directorate has also begun installing the smart (Traffic Light) or smart signal that senses traffic momentum, and is equipped with cameras to capture traffic violations." End /25
