    [rtl]Baghdad - Iraq Today:

Member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, MP Baqir Al-Saadi, confirmed on Thursday that there are three stages of the seawater desalination project, indicating that three governorates may benefit from the project.[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Saadi said in a press interview, “The water crisis in Iraq is not temporary in the midst of the drought that is hitting the Middle East and large areas of the world, accompanied by the upstream countries not dealing fairly with the downstream countries and Our country is losing a large percentage of flowing water, especially in the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.” Because of the Turkish dams.”[/rtl]
[rtl]He added, "The southern governorates, especially Basra, are the most affected by water crises, which necessitated the adoption of alternative options for providing water through desalination of seawater, which is a strategy approved in many countries and has proven its effectiveness in providing safe drinking water."[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that "the Sudanese government has allocated large sums of money in the 2023 budget to finance the seawater desalination project, which will be in 3 stages," stressing that "the project may expand to include 3 governorates, including Basra, according to necessity and the rate of crises, especially since the situation requires the development of precautionary plans.”[/rtl]
