    Baghdad/Al-Masala Event: A tourism company in the Al-Mansour area in Baghdad defrauded nearly a thousand people who fell victim to fraud after presenting tempting offers to perform Umrah rituals.
    One of the victims said: “They took copies of our civil ID, passport, and two photos from us, and promised us that they would issue a travel visa within 3 days.”
    Each person handed over about five hundred dollars, after which the company's employees disappeared.
    The phenomenon of fake companies that defraud citizens in Iraq is a dangerous phenomenon, as it causes huge financial losses to citizens, and also negatively affects the Iraqi economy.
    About half a million dollars is the proceeds that the company collected from citizens after they performed Umrah within a few days, and owners of other companies talk about the suspicious situation of the company itself.
    Arkan Habib, the owner of a tourism company adjacent to the fictitious company, said: “No advertising was placed for the company, nor did its owner provide a generating electricity line,” stressing that “there is no such company, even if it is a new company.”
    Habib pointed out that “these are basics that must be completed from the beginning,” noting that “the company has witnessed an abnormal demand from citizens, due to the attractive price for Umrah.”
    The affected people, from different governorates, filed complaints with the Ministry of the Interior about the fraud they committed, while the security authorities are searching for the company owners who blocked their phones and fled to an unknown destination.
