    Economy News - Baghdad
Today, Monday, the Ministry of Transport clarified its measures taken against price violators inside garages, while calling on citizens to report violating cases.
Director of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Transport, Maitham Abdel Safi, said, “The Ministry of Transport, through the General Company for Private Transport Management, imposes on private vehicle drivers to work within the company’s laws and regulations and not to impose a price other than the prevailing price in force within the company’s internal system,” stressing that “ If the price is exceeded in any way and the situation is repeated three times, the SIM card (smart card) will be withdrawn by the company’s competent committees, and the driver will not be able to work at all within the geographical area in which he works.”
Al-Safi added that “there are no cases of violation of fare pricing at all by drivers of private vehicles inside the garages, due to the presence of observers of the lines operating in those garages who hold the violators accountable,” explaining that “in the event that there are violating vehicles operating in slum areas and not affiliated with the Department of Transport In particular, this matter will cost the driver a fine for this work, sometimes amounting to 60 thousand dinars, to increase the fare through the company’s detachments, and if the situation is repeated, the line connection and search will be withdrawn and he will not work within the area in which he works.”
Al-Safi called on “citizens to contact the Ministry of Transport via its hotlines to monitor any of the above cases, and the necessary measures will be taken in this regard.”
