Hadi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “The head of the Taqaddam Alliance, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, held 5 meetings in less than 72 hours with leaders from several Sunni forces in Baghdad, Salah al-Din, and all the way to Diyala, in order to create understandings and win their votes in the decision-making session to choose Shaalan al-Karim as a candidate.” About applying for the presidency of Parliament.
He added, "Al-Halbousi presented proposals to the Sunni forces, most notably the formation of coalitions in several governorates to gain government positions and give up some of them while creating negotiating paths regarding other files in Baghdad and elsewhere."
He pointed out that "so far there is no agreement with the vision proposed by Al-Halbousi in light of the insistence of the Sunni forces to support other candidates, far from progress so far." Ended 25 February
