The company's director, Muhannad Al-Saffar, said, "The company is in the process of starting an expanded, comprehensive study of the reality of the national network, which will contribute to assessing weak points and diagnosing problems accurately, and will be submitted to the Ministry of Electricity to help it plan future projects," noting that "the study falls within the agreement between the company and the Ministry of Electricity." In the presence of Prime Minister Mohamed Al-Sudani in Berlin in January 2023,” according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.

He added, "The study will include all regions of Iraq and all sectors," pointing out that "current production is not sufficient for Iraq's current needs, with a shortage of about 40%. As for the transportation sector, the ministry needs additional transmission lines and high-voltage stations."

Regarding the distribution sector, the Siemens director said, “Implementing electronic collection comes at the top of the requirements and it falls within the study that will be referred to the Ministry of Electricity. We will be fully prepared to implement what is in it in all its details if part of the projects are referred to the company.”

Al-Saffar stated that “Siemens implemented projects and completed them during the year 2023 that contributed to improving the reality of energy and the network, including cooling systems that added more than 800 megawatts to the national network, which was opened by Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani, along with the Minister of Electricity, in mid-June 2023, in addition to the completion of secondary stations in western... Mosul and Al-Hamidiyah in Anbar Governorate and 13 secondary stations in the center and south of the country, which entered service and contributed to improving the electrical network and energy supply in these areas and reducing energy transmission losses.”

At the beginning of last year 2023, Siemens signed an agreement with the Iraqi government to develop the electricity network in the country.
