The Director of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Farhan Al-Fartusi, announced today, Wednesday (February 7, 2024), the volume of revenues in the northern port of Umm Qasr during the past month, indicating that they amounted to more than (31) billion Iraqi dinars.
Al-Fartusi said, in a statement received by “Baghdad Today,” that “the northern port of Umm Qasr is considered one of the most developed Iraqi ports, due to the plans that we have put in place to rehabilitate its infrastructure and the new projects that have been opened, which has reflected positively on the performance, port work, and revenues generated.” .
He continued, "The port achieved revenues during the month of January 2024 amounting to more than (31) billion Iraqi dinars."
It is noteworthy that the ports of Umm Qasr (Northern and Southern) are one of the most important commercial ports, and are located in the far south of Iraq, in its economic capital (Basra), where they were established in 1930 AD, and through which more than (80%) of the goods imported into Iraq by sea pass.
