    Economy News - Baghdad
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Thursday, that gas projects in Iraq constitute a priority for the government, while urging the American company Baker Hughes to contribute to establishing a chemical materials factory.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a statement received by Al-Iqtisad News that "Al-Sudani received, at his residence in the American capital, Washington, a delegation from the American company Baker Hughes," noting that "during the meeting, the development of the company's work in Iraq in the field of oil and gas was discussed."
The Prime Minister stressed that "gas projects in Iraq constitute a priority for the government, in order to cover the needs of the constructed electrical stations, in addition to stopping waste by burning gas that harms the environment," urging "the company to contribute to establishing a factory for chemicals used in drilling and oil extraction operations." .
For its part, the company's delegation stressed their "readiness for further cooperation with the Iraqi government and private sector, as well as applying smart solutions in the field of developing oil and gas fields."
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi private sector signed a memorandum of understanding in Washington with Baker Hughes in the field of using smart solutions to stop gas flaring and develop and maintain oil fields.
