Spokesman for the International Affairs and Trade Development Committee at the Iranian House of Industry, Mines and Trade, Sayyed Latifi, said on Sunday that Iraq is the first destination for his country’s exports of food and agricultural products, as it imported a value of up to two billion dollars of these products.
Latifi announced exports worth $6.3 billion of animal, fish, agricultural and food products to the country in the last Iranian year (2023-2024), representing a 22.5% growth in value.
Regarding exports of Iranian food and agricultural products, the semi-official Iranian Mehr Agency quoted the spokesman as saying: “More than 8 million and 803 thousand tons of animal, fish, agricultural and dairy products were exported at a value of 6 billion and 298 million and 163 thousand and 654 dollars in the year 1402 (2023). -2024), this figure represents an increase of about one million tons of goods and more than a billion dollars in foreign exchange earnings for Iran compared to the year 1401 (2022-2023).
He added that Iraq is the first destination for Iran's exports of food and agricultural products, as it imported 31.5% of these products worth $1.986 billion, followed by the United Arab Emirates with $751 million, Russia with $521.5 million, and Pakistan with $508 million. and Afghanistan, worth $429.4 million.
Among other neighboring countries that import Iranian food and agricultural products, the value of Iranian exports to Turkey recorded $251 million, followed by Turkey: Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Armenia, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.
