    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
On Friday (May 24, 2024), the Iraqi authorities confirmed the killing of two Iraqi citizens in the state of “Afyonkarahisar,” which is located in southwestern Turkey.
The Iraqi embassy in Ankara announced, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that it was following up “the circumstances of the killing of Iraqis” with the competent authorities in Turkey.
The embassy said in the statement that the Iraqi ambassador to Türkiye, Majid Al-Lajmawi, met with the families of the dead and offered his condolences to them.
Ambassador Al-Lajmawi confirmed that "the embassy is following up with the competent Turkish authorities through diplomatic channels on the circumstances of the case and the reasons that led to its occurrence."
He pointed out that the consular and legal departments at the embassy are coordinating with “the competent Turkish authorities to conduct a field visit as quickly as possible to determine the circumstances of the incident.”
The ambassador added that the case will be "followed up at all stages of its investigative and judicial stages."
